Unsettling through Wednesday
Frequent showery rain
Wednesday Remnants of previous rain may leave showers in the east of England in the morning, otherwise a fine day in prospect as pressure briefly goes slack. Sunny spells and light winds, best in Scotland. High cloud thickens in the west and rain moves into Ireland from the southwest through the day, extending northeastwards. Rain similarly starts to reach southwest England and Wales later with cloud building fairly extensively here. Always a risk of heavy bursts of rain. Warm again at 27C south, 24C Midlands, 20 to 22C elsewhere.
Wednesday Night Rain spreads extensively across Ireland with heavy bursts, most often west and northern areas. Southwest Britain continues to see rain as well, though generally lighter and more patchy. More cloud builds across western areas, east and north keeping mostly clear skies, best of clear skies in Scotland. Lows at 16 to 17C southwest England and Ireland, 14C Midlands, 10C north England and Scotland.
Thursday Heavy showery rain throughout Ireland most of the day with local thundery bursts. These showers tending to move north and east towards western parts of Scotland and Wales, bringing a risk of heavy showers to these areas. Patchy rain across England as well, though always lighter. Becoming substantially cloudy for most. Highs at 27C south and east England, 25C Midlands to Home Counties, 20 to 21C elsewhere.
Friday Mixed weather on Friday: a band of showery rain stretches north to south across Britain and slips east from the morning. Often raining with heavy bursts for a time in the morning, generally easing as the day goes though always a risk of scattered showers later. Only scattered showers in Ireland. Good sun spells for most between rain spells. Feeling humid, high temperatures of 29C central and east England, 20 or 21C west and north areas, nearer 17C western coasts of Ireland and Scotland.
